About the Red Society
This country lacks clear voices of the left. This is an attempt to project the side of socialism, environmentalism and peace to the wider public sphere.
Students, community groups, unions and charities must together fight the slashing of public spending. But this must be part of the broader framework of progressivism and collective action.
A real coalition of political and community organisations, working for pluralist and democratic socialism will provide the strongest base from which we can stop the Tories’ idealogical attack on students, the unemployed, workers, the vulnerable, and our welfare state.
The left in the North (where most posts on this blog are written) and the South West (where the author is from), and nationally, must ramp up our efforts to defend jobs and public services.
Students and workers are fighting for an alternative to the reactionary dogma of the Con-Dem coalition. But the Red Society believes such an alternative is to be found in the Green Party – the best hope for the left in this country and a real voice for change and opposition to austerity.
